Pet grooming is big business. Each year pet owners spend nearly $2.9 billion to keep Fido and Fifi fluffy. With demand predicted to increase 18 to 26 percent by 2014, according to the American Pet Product Manufacturing Association, there are will be plenty of groomers looking to help you pamper your pet. Here are some of the Northwest’s finest.

Anne’s Grooming
“We do a lot of rehabilitating of dogs that have had bad experiences,” explains Anne Stewart, owner of Anne’s Grooming and 30-year grooming veteran — 16 of them in Oro Valley. “We’ll work through whatever issues they’ve got and try to get them calm and relaxed. That’s what I like doing.” Her customers also are put at ease. “You can see the entire shop from the front door,” she says. “We don’t hide anything.”

Aussie Pet Mobile
When owners Shannon and Mark O’Dore decided to start a business last year, they opted for a franchise from award-winning company Aussie Pet Mobile. Each completely self-contained van provides numerous services including a 15-step spa process, deshedding, pad treatments, and even toenail painting.
“Being mobile, one huge advantage is there’s one handler with the pet from beginning to end. It’s a lot less stressful. That and the dogs can see their house through the windows on the truck,” Mark O’Dore says.

K-9 Kruiser Mobile Pet Grooming
Philippe Coursodon Jr. began grooming when he was just 10 years old, but it wasn’t until three years ago that he began working  full-time at K-9 Kruiser, which was started by his father. In May, Coursodon Jr. took control of K-9 Kruiser, after Coursodon Sr. succumbed to cancer.
Today, Coursodon Jr. continues to extend the same enthusiasm and compassion to his clients and their pets. “Customer service is number one,” he says. “We’re one of the rare companies that grooms cats. If we miss an appointment or a van is broken down, we give a discount.”
